Water, Water, Everywhere

We woke up at 5 this morning to hear running water. Mike got up and quickly realized we had a major problem. The water line on our fridge broke and the water we were hearing was the water coming out of our basement ceiling. Apparently the line had broke several hours earlier judging by the amount of water. We had inches of water in our kitchen and our carpets. The carpets near our kitchen and at least half way down the hall were full of water. The basement ceiling was in the beginning stages of leaking and the basement carpet was quickly filling with water. We grabbed every bucket and towel we had in the house and began trying to minimize the damage. At the advice of Mike's dad, we poked a few holes in the ceiling to let more water drain out. A few holes had already happened on their own too. Thanks to many great people, we now have several fans on the carpet trying to dry it out. We also used our steam cleaner to suck as much water out as possible. I spent about 2 hours before work this morning with the steam cleaner and Mike used it many times throughout the rest of the day. Our carpets are still wet, but not near as much as they were. The fans are helping, just not as fast as we would like.

The ironic part of this is that we changed homeowners insurance last week. This isn't exactly how I wanted to begin my relationship with the new company. We are told an adjuster will be out in 24-48 hours. I will update more once we hear from them. Below are several pictures of the damage. I took these before work but some areas have gotten worse since then.
